Isn't real effective as an in-line run blocker because of his inability to get under the pad level of opposing linemen and drive defenders off the ball. Does a nice job working his hands inside on contact and can be a bit of a Velcro player, but simply doesn't play with the kind of leverage needed to create a push in the run game. Showcases some natural body control when asked to pull and hit a target off his frame.
However, he will struggle to stay on blocks for any extended period of time and doesn't look comfortable moving his feet through contact on slide down blocks. Nevertheless, he's a bright guy who understands angles and is at his best using his length and short-area quickness to seal defenders away from the football.
Impression: A tall, long-armed guard, but doesn't play with the kind of leverage needed to be effective in any area of the game at the next level."
Positive: Nice-sized position blocker who displays strength at the point of attack. Blocks with good lean, quickly gets his hands up, and turns defenders from the action. Seals opponents from plays with good body positioning and controls them once engaged at the point of attack. Jolts defenders with terrific punch.
Negative: Must improve his blocking balance. Rumbles about the field, not fluid on his feet, and only effective in a small area.
Analysis: Hunt did a solid job the past two seasons showing progress yet is a limited athlete with marginal upside. He could make the two deep for a power running offense."
Strengths: Plays with an edge. Once he locks up the defender, he does a good job of controlling him. Uses his hands very well. Powerful base to anchor at the POA. Nice length.
Weaknesses: Stiff player who bends at the waist too often. Loses leverage and can be pushed around when off balance. Footwork is sluggish and will be beaten by faster players.
Projection: Has the size and experience against some of the best DTs in the nation. Played relatively well at the E-W Shrine game and stoned Marvin Austin on a number of occasions. Should get some late-round consideration, but probably not NFL-starter material."
