Takes him far too long to fight off blocks, but he does have a good closing range once he locates the football and can close quickly. Showcase some decent lateral ability when asked to slip a block on his inside move, but lacks a first step to get back up to speed quickly. Has a tendency to get a bit overextended and isn't real fluid or sudden when asked to change directions and accelerate up the field. Has been very productive through the years and is Army's all-time leading sack man. Plays with a passion for the game and has a motor that runs nonstop.
Impression: He's an undersized guy who lacks a great first step and will struggle to reach the edge and fight off blocks in the NFL. Gets a lot of his sacks because of his good closing speed and effort, but lacks the fluidity to be much of a factor getting after the QB in the NFL."
Strengths: Tremendous natural pass rusher. Explosive off the ball and can turn the corner and counter underneath. Athletic, agile and very quick. Strong physique and plays a very physical game. Tough versus the run; can set the edge and play off blocks. Hard tackler and big hitter. Not much experience in pass coverage but is fluid in space and should easily handle zone responsibilities. Has played some LB, so it won't be entirely new for him.
Weaknesses: Not very tall for a pass rusher, and is small for a 3-4 OLB, his most likely position. Physically maxed out, so he won't get any bigger. Must fulfill at least a two-year service commitment.
Projection: Won't be drafted, but only because of his service commitment. NFL-caliber talent who should be in someone's training camp; has enough skill to make a roster as a situational player/special-teamer two years down the road."
