At EWU, he redshirted in 2006, and in 2007, he didn't start but got some field experience. In 2008, he Earned honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference honors. Named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team. Really began to shine in 2009, and led the team in tackles (with well over 100). Made his senior season his best, leading (as of this writing) his team to the national semi-finals in FCS. He topped the career 400-tackle mark in the overtime win against ND State in the quarterfinals, an EWU career tackle record.
Strengths: Really diagnoses very well and gets to a lot of plays a step ahead of other LBs. Tackles pretty well for a diminutive LB, and has been extremely productive for one of the better programs in FCS. Really wraps up well. Has good speed. Blitzes and chases well. A heat-seeking missile at this level. Should be a very good ST player in the mold of Larry Izzo.
Weaknesses: Can struggle tackling big RBs and TEs, and may lack the bulk to hold up at the POA at the next level. Can be run over by big backs. Very short, and will likely miss some things at the next level due to the height of the O-lines. Not really an asset in pass defense. WILL candidate who has the look of a career special teams coverage unit guy, and not much more.
Projection: Very late draftable prospect, who will probably be a UDFA."
