Is a savvy route runner. Doesn't generate much explosion out of his breaks and has a tendency to round his routes off a bit when trying to get out of his vertical breaks. But sells his sharply breaking routes well, keeps his feet under him and doesn't waste much motion for such a leggy guy. Does a nice job getting out of his breaks, using his frame to box defenders away from the ball and making the play. Isn't a guy who will ever generate a ton of separation for himself, but knows how to create enough to make a play on the football vs. man.
Impression: He's a smart, savvy wideout with good size, but is very average as an athlete. Best case is he makes a roster as a low-end No. 5 or 6 guy, but lacks much upside. A free agent only you bring to camp, but will have a tough time making a final 53."
Positive: Adequately sized possession receiver with reliable hands. Uses his frame to shield away defenders, displays good eye/hand coordination, and will expose himself to the big hit in order to come away with the ball. Comes back to passes out of breaks, effectively makes the over-the-shoulder catch downfield, and easily adjusts to errant throws to make the reception in stride. Settles into open spots on the field, extends his hands, and offers the quarterback a nice target.
Negative: Lacks a quick release off the line and does not have a second gear or the ability to stretch the field vertically. Occasionally struggles in battles.
Analysis: Ellingson was productive on the college level and will get consideration as a fifth receiver in the NFL primarily used to run underneath routes."

Strengths: Tall and rangy with excellent speed and decent hands. Pretty crafty. Well under the radar guy who can make the tough catch in traffic. Has great triangle numbers and works pretty hard at his craft. Young with lots of upside left. Played well against decent competition in college.
Weaknesses: Needs to bulk up considerably. Only 4 reps on bench press suggest weak upper body. Not a route runner yet. Not a good cold weather prospect. Needs refinement in many areas. Looks like a career #3 and possession guy.
Projection: 7th-priority UDFA"
