Highlights from 2009:
Highlights from 2010:
Strengths: Excellent size and speed to play either FS or CB at the next level. Dynamic special teams performer who only returned 5 punts in college, but took 3 of them back for TDs. Had 2 KOR TDs as well and a good average on 64 collegiate attempts. Is a good north-south returner who sees the seams well and hits them with authority. Has the speed to run away from people (4.47 timed at FCS Senior Scout Bowl 12/2010). Also one of the best players on coverage teams. Has a knack for blocking kicks with 12 in his career. Has hurried a number of punters and drawn holding penalties from blockers because of his quickness off the edge. As a defender, is a very physical player who has excellent range and plays with an edge. Playmaker on defense who shows good awareness and can read-react quickly. Excellent short-area quickness for a bigger, long-legged DB. Deceptive speed to run with the receivers. Has a nice plant and drive when the action is in front of him. Breaks down well in the open field and is a sure tackler. Can separate the ball from the defender. Tremendous athlete with a lot of potential and could even line up at WR on offense. Showed good durability during his time at Wagner. Low risk, high-reward type of player.
Weaknesses: Never grabbed a full-time starting role at Wagner except on special teams. Very inconsistent player at times. Didn't show great ball skills at Wagner (only 1 INT in his career) and seemed more interested in blowing up the receiver than making a play on the ball. Often played too physically on the field and drew penalties as a result. His physical play with his lanky frame could be a concern for future injuries. Not a great technician as a DB and isn't the most fluid of athletes. Probably limited to zone CB or, more likely, FS at the next level. Will need a lot of coaching before he's ready to contribute on defense.
Projection: Could start on special teams for any NFL team and make an impact both in coverage and as a returner. Has a lot of potential to develop into a reserve defensive back. Any NFL team would be smart to throw a late-round pick at him, but he'll certainly be getting phone calls immediately following the 2011 NFL Draft should his name not get called during the proceedings."
