He uses his length to wrap on ball carriers off his frame, but doesn't have much upper body strength and will slip off receivers. Exhibits solid range in pursuit once he gets his legs going, but he drops head into contact, doesn't see what he hits and looks content to routinely just dive at the legs of ball carriers.
He Exhibits good initial depth off the line but he gets upright and leggy in his drop. He really struggles with balance, he just isn't a guy who can quickly get out of his breaks and close on the football. Gets caught up with his legs not under him, too often drifting backward and needing to chop his feet in order to collect himself.
He also needs to routinely collect himself when asked to turn and run, and I have seen him trip himself up a number of times trying to get out of his breaks. Exhibits solid range when trying to close, but does not have enough of a second gear to make up for a false step.
Doesn't play real quick in tight areas, isn't clean when trying to re-direct/close and gives up his fair share of completions under him because of his limitations driving on throws.
Impression: Wasn't much of an impact guy in either the run or pass game at the college level and is only an average size/speed free agent at this stage."
Thinks he's better than he is, as he lacks starter-caliber athletic ability, fluidity, range and ball skills to project to free safety and lacks bulk and functional strength for strong safety."
Not all that big, but not shy about coming up in run support; solid wrap-up tackler had 80 stops last fall including four in the backfield, but isn’t that physical and doesn’t deliver many big hits;
Long, fluid athlete with sub-4.5 speed; also has good instincts and range, although he will bite on play fakes; can turn and run with most wide receivers in man coverage; however, ball skills are only average."
