Lacks the upper body strength to fend off the block and disengage, but has a nose for the football, showcases good instincts off the snap and is routinely making his way toward the football. Isn't real sudden when engaged and lacks the kind of first step his frame would suggest, but his toughness, motor and ability to find the football should at least get him a camp invite in my book, potentially as a 34 rush linebacker.
Impression: A former walk-on who lacks great size, but plays with good leverage, work rate and instincts. Isn't anything more than a camp invite, but seems like a high-character kid who could make his mark on special teams if given a chance."

2008-Played in four games ... lettered.
PRIOR TO UTAH: Played in seven games for Southern Utah in 2004 ... recorded eight tackles and a tackle for loss (11 yards) ... all-state as a senior in 2003 at Bountiful HS (Utah) ... all-region ... Davis County MVP ... team captain ... Bountiful won the 4A state title in 2002 and 2003 ... also lettered in baseball for three years ... honor roll student.
PERSONAL: Son of Jared and Michelle Cox ... three sisters and a brother ... enjoys snow skiing and water skiing ... exercise and sport science major ... full name Christian Vaun Cox ... born Dec. 11, 1985.
Strengths: Good first step off the snap. Good quickness to turn the corner as a pass rusher, dips his hips, and stays in balance as he gets around the OT. Has a good rip move and uses his hands well to get the offensive linemen's hands off him. Sheds blocks well.
Weaknesses: Lacks strength at the POA. Gets pushed around at the LOS. Doesn't have the speed to make plays in pursuit. Needs to add multiple pass rush moves to his repertoire to be effective.
Projection: UDFA. Because of his size he will either have to add weight to stay at defensive end or show he can make the transition to a OLB in a 3-4 scheme."
