He has a tendency to lock his hips facing inside and really struggles to reach the football on throws toward the sideline. Is consistently forced to bail out of his drop, turn his back toward the play and then attack the football. Exhibits inconsistent instincts in zone coverage as well.
He does possess solid body control, feeling routes develop around him, and exhibits the fluidity to open his hips and re-direct. However, he plays very soft down the field and lacks the ability to drive on throws downhill.
He becomes very reactionary when diagnosing plays in front of him and has a tough time getting out of his breaks when asked to click and close. Gets really elongated with his footwork, gets overextended on his back foot and takes him a while to get out of his breaks.
Isn't a real effective man-to-man cover guy as well, and he has a tendency to pop upright off the ball and rarely keeps his feet under him. Too often gets caught skipping out of his breaks, not staying real compact, and gives up separation initially out of his breaks and doesn't have the kind of closing burst to put himself around the football.
Displays good fluidity when asked to turn and run with average play speed. Locates the football quickly when it's in the air and does a nice job coming down with the catch.
However, isn't a real natural plucker and can be sealed with ease on the outside vs. the run game, struggling to disengage, and isn't a guy who can set the edge and routinely tackle on the outside.
Impression: Looks more like a nickel corner, but is raw with his footwork and isn't overly instinctive. Doesn't look like a draftable corner to me."
Is not confident on an island and has an upright, choppy pedal (does not transition fluidly).
Has matured over his time at South Florida, including a renewed dedication in the weight room, though he still shows limited press-and-tackle strength despite his willingness to support the run.
Is tough and will play through pain."
