Tends to drop his head into contact in order to try to get under defenders, but struggles with balance and doesn't have a ton of power in his lower half to drive defenders off the ball. Routinely can be stonewalled or even worked into the backfield at the point of attack. However, he takes good angles when asked to seal defenders inside.
Gets off the ball quickly, takes excellent angles into contact, extends his arms and is sticky through the play. Exhibits "plus" length for the position, is compact/quick with his punch and heavy handed through contact. Also, looks coordinated getting out to the second level, breaking down on contact and sealing in space.
Sets quickly in the pass game, pops upright a bit initially off the ball, but extends his arms well, routinely gets into the chest plate of defenders, and will drop his base down on contact.
Lacks ideal lateral quickness, but moves his feet through contact and has enough athleticism to stick to blocks and push defenders past the play even once they do gain a step.
However, lacks ideal upper body strength and once a defender does gain a step on him, lacks the strength to simply hold him off and eventually loses balance and falls off his man. Isn't overly fluid in space, but is at his best with his hands on defenders.
Impression: Is a tough, try hard guy who steps and seals quickly in the run game and is a solid athlete. However, looks like a zone guy only at the next level and isn't the type of dynamic athlete to warrant anything more than a late round/FA pick."
