But, he isn't real long armed and will struggle to separate if they get a hold of him. Displays good hand quickness and balance when asked to slip initially. Loves to work the club and arm over in order to separate on either the inside or out. But possesses only an average first step when asked to accelerate past his pass blocker, will allow himself to get a bit high, which takes away from his initial burst. Displays a great motor though, works very hard in pursuit and will work till the whistle.
Plays hard in the run game, displays good instincts, gets early jumps on the football and is able to seal and set the edge when need be. Isn't overly powerful or strong, but can sit into his stance, extend his arms and fight on the outside. Isn't a real stack and shed guy because of his arm length and needs to win with his first step off the ball in order to create negative plays in the backfield vs. the run. Looks tight hipped in space, doesn't showcase much range out of his breaks and isn't a guy who runs well or closes from the backside, which really hurts his chances as a potential 3-4 rush guy.
Impression: I love his motor, hands and work rate and think he could fight his way onto an NFL roster as a nickel rusher. But looks too stiff in the hips to drop off and range into coverage as a 3-4-rush guy."
Positive: Pass rushing defensive end who projects to linebacker in the NFL. Plays with terrific leverage, gets underneath blockers, and fluid moving in every direction of the field. Chases to get involved in the action, plays with explosiveness, and effectively uses his hands to protect himself. Possesses great first-step quickness, keeps his feet moving, and wedges through blocks up front. Consistently gets penetration, shows ability in pursuit, and goes very hard. Flashes ability to drop off the line and play in space on zone blitzes.
Negative: Lacks the size to be an every-down lineman in the NFL. Does not have great height for an outside linebacker.
Analysis: Miller has been tremendously productive on the college level and is a defender with a nonstop motor. He's a situational pass rush specialist with a special teams mentality and should find a place on an NFL roster."
Negatives: Speed is below average, but adequate for the DE position, needs to show a little more speed to be a full-time 3-4 OLB in the NFL... Plays the run well, but is not polished enough to be an all-around linebacker at the next level, does not have quite enough experience dropping into coverage... Does not have elite agility, looks a little stiff at times when wading through traffic... Needs to work on block-shedding technique, is not very powerful at the point of attack, needs to incorporate more pass-rushing moves... May project best as a situational pass rusher and special teams contributor."
Strengths: High motor guy, works hard and produces excellent stats. Good pass rusher, utilizes the arm-under maneuver to perfection. Ranks 7th in all time C-USA sacks.
Weaknesses: Needs to add to his repertoire of moves. Smallish, not big enough to face up with NFL Tackles. Will probably be overpowered as a 4-3 defensive end. Not particularly fast in timed speed.
Projection: Adequate workout numbers in February will contribute to his stock on the rise. Currently we have him ranked in the 4th round, and as a Top 100 look-out player."
