Looks a bit limited in the pass game. Doesn't have a great initial burst when asked to run sideline-to-sideline and seemed stiff trying to redirect and close. Doesn't display as much in the form of closing speed in pursuit and although his instincts are average in zone, doesn't have the type of burst or initial range to consistently make plays on the football.
Impression: Possesses above average size, but doesn't take on blocks with much leverage and was really getting rocked consistently vs. the fullback on plays run right at him."
Positive: Tough two-down linebacker who is best in the box. Plays smart football, displays short-area quickness, and chases the action hard. Gives a lot of effort, displays good instincts, and wraps up tackling.
Negative: Struggles in coverage and does not cover much area on the field. Has marginal speed in pursuit.
Analysis: Jacobs has been ultra productive as a run defender since his sophomore season. He possesses the mentality to back up on the inside of a 3-4 alignment."
2008 - led team with 113 tackles.
Finished his career with 380 career tackles, third all-time in Bulldog history, 8th-most among active NCAA players including six career blocked kicks.
Strengths: Durable, productive leader who has started 51 consecutive games (every game in his collegiate career). Protypical size and speed for NFL ILB. Versatile, mobile player who can block kicks, tackles well, and play good pass defense. Drops well in zone coverage.
Weaknesses: Some concern shedding blockers and making plays in the hole. Competition level is a concern. Struggles somewhat in one-on-one pass coverage.
Projection: 6th round."
