Pass Defense ~ Mediocre Athleticism, but phenomenal Processing Speed & Diagnostic Acuity.
Run Defense ~ Tremendous Instincts & Savvy, and a real Nose For The Ball. A Natural Born CenterFielder.
As a CornerBack, John Banks makes one Hell of a Safety.
His Verticity sucks, and he's not physical enough to play Press effectively, nor quick enough to recover.
But his phenomenal Diagnostic Velocity & Instincts and voracious aggressiveness are perfect for Free Safety.
All but I list'm as a CornerBack, and it appears that the Pirates drafted'm with that in mind, as well ~ which is not to imply that I'm surprised, mind you: I have wonderful Delusions of Grandeur, but not regarding my Influence!!
My feeling is that the Bucs will eventually move'm thither, but we'll see.
2 ~ QB Mike Glennon ~ North Carolina State @ #73 ~ Spectacular Fail!! Gave'm a 7th Round Ranking!!
Of course, if he turns out to be a Success, mine shall be the Spectacular Fail!! And not my first!!
Motor > I can't say. But his Game's lack of Development doesn't speak kindly on his Account.
Accuracy > Sketchy. Inconsistent Mechanics.
Diagnostics > Poor. Glennon repeatedly displayed all the traits of QuarterBacks hindered with Processing Speed that may very well prove to be inadequate for success at the next level:
Staring Down his Primary Target.
Forcing Throws Into Coverage.
Rushing Through Reads and Checking Down when huge Gains might've otherwise been made.
All of that strongly suggests to me that the Game's moving too fast for'm at the ACC, much less the NFL.
Mike Glennon strikes me as another QuarterBack who ~ like myself, aside from not possessing even an ounce of QuarterBacking Talent ~ brings superior Intelligence to the table, but falls fatally short in Processing Speed.
Glennon's Critics speak of his lack of Intangibles or Trust.
I think he simply doesn't process Information quickly enough to beat complex Defenses at the next level.
He's got a great Arm, but my Impression is that, while he'll likely have sporadic success at the next level, he will prove to be highly frustrating in anything other than an Hurry Up/No Huddle deal.
Yet, probably for no better reason than the League and the Media growing weary of Matt Barkley and Geno Smith, Mike Glennon's Stock has rocketed all the way into the 2nd Round...and even further, in some venues.
3 ~ HB Montel Harris ~ Temple Owls ~ UFA ~ Tremendous Pick!! Gave'm a 3rd/4th Round Ranking!!
There's considerable Risk attached to Montel Harris, of course. He got dismissed from Boston College a year ago for repeated violations of Team Rules, and he's had multiple Injuries.
But he commands phenomenal Field Vision and quite enough Power & Agility to take full advantage of it.
And it's quite clear, on the Field and on'is Combine Numbers, that he's fully recovered from'is Injuries.
Not to be cavalier or dismissive, but Kids do mistakes and Injuries do happen.
Mind you: repeated mistakes and repeated Injuries are a very real concern. And the fact that all 3 Injuries were to the same Left Knee raises serious questions about'is future. But there is also extraordinary UpSide, here.
And ~ ironically ~ his Left Knee may actually benefit from Harris prospectively starting up lower on the Depth Chart and thus having to carry a lighter load for a Year or two: It may be just what it needs to develop lasting Strength.
Snatching Harris as a UFA pretty much makes up for the atrocious pick of Glennon, who could, after all, very well make me look like the World's largest idiot, if he proves to be as quick in Mind as in Arm.
