Drafting Christine Michael would be like drafting Sampson, but playing every Game at SuperCuts.
Christine Michael is the most dynamically talented HalfBack of this entire Draft, Bar None.
He is also almost certainly the one that is off more Team's boards all together than any other HalfBack.
What's interesting, though, is that I couldn't find anything definitive regarding his allegedly having spent his Senior Season in the DogHouse. There was a 1 Game Suspension, yes, but no details as to why: only rumors.
As for supposedly being in the DogHouse all Year, maybe he was and maybe he wasn't, but the facts are that he was recovering from a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament, he got stuffed consistently on Opening Day, and he wasn't the best fit for the Air Raid Offense being run...
It may simply've been a combination of those things, rather than the alleged DogHouse.
As for the Interviews he missed, that was really bad.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not suggesting that there aren't enormous Question Marks about this kid.
Quite the opposite.
Just food for thought.
As for'is Health, it's a concern, but, like the Character Questions, possibly overstated: He's had two major Injuries, and these cost'm big chunks of two consecutive Years, and as ACL Injuries always need 12-18 months to fully recover Form from, they essentially cost'm his leading Role in the third Year.
But it's quite clear, what with'is magnificent Combine Numbers that he is indeed back to 100%.
And when he's healthy, he's amazing.
He's not enough of a Receiving Threat to be a FlexBack, which impinges his Value, in my view, but he's such an amazing Beast of a Runner, and he's an awfully good Blocker as well as a decent Receiver. As such, if I was Grading him without regard to Risk, I'd be sorely tempted to give'm a 1st Round Grade.
As it is, I suspect that the later he gets drafted ~ meaning the less he Gets Paid and the more he has to overcome to get Downs ~ the more likely he'll be to attain his considerable Potential.
2 ~ DT Jordan Hill ~ Penn State Nittany Lions @ #87 ~ Excellent Pick!! Gave'm a 2nd Round Ranking!!
Jordan Hill is only average as a Run Defender, but he brings exceptional Athleticism, decent Gravity, a Refined Repertoire of Moves, and a relentless Motor as a disruptive, penetrating 3 Tech Under Tackle in a "434".
There is immense Potential, here.
3 ~ SE Christopher Harper ~ Kansas State WildCats @ #123 ~ Terrific Pick!! Gave'm a 3rd Round Ranking!!
Still a bit raw, as a recent Convertible from QuarterBack, but Christopher Harper brings an outstanding Fusion of Size, Strength, Speed, and Intelligence to the table. I think he's going to become an excellent Split End, one who can Rapidly Read & React to Defensive changes, and adjust Routes accordingly and consistently.
I don't expect spectacular things from'm, but he's a Baller who'll reliably Move The Chains and beat Defenses up with a Tough, Savvy, Physical Game for a solid Decade or so, I expect.
4 ~ DT Jesse Williams ~ Alabama Crimson Tide @ #137 ~ Good Pick. Gave'm a 4th Round Ranking.
It's important, I think, to remember that Jesse Williams is an Australian who's still relatively new to this Great Game.
I don't see much Athletic Potential, there, but as a Run Stuffer and Middle Mauler, he could become a real Beast.
Even so, I think his Athletic limitations confine his Impact to Running Downs.
5 ~ CB Tharold Simon ~ Louisiana State Tigers @ #138 ~ Exemplary Pick!! Gave'm a 3rd/4th Round Ranking.
I didn't write'm up, and I do have concerns about his Verticity to Turn & Burn in Coverage...
But there is Potential there as a Press Corner in Seattle's extraordinary Scheme.
6 ~ HB Spencer Ware ~ Louisiana State Tigers @ #194 ~ Phenomenal Pick!! Gave'm a 2nd Round Ranking!!
Spencer Ware is an extraordinary HalfBack Prospect. I would almost call'm a FlexBack, because he'll be an exceptional Weapon in the Passing Game if his NFL Team is smart enough to deploy'm accordingly. I won't, because his pedestrian "40" Time presumably limits his DownField capacity, but you could make a strong Argument!!
Spencer Ware ~ did I mention? ~ is a mauling, brawling, bruising, battering Beast. He'll simply beat a Defense into paste, all day long, and his combination of Size, Strength, Power, and startling Elusiveness will wreak Havoc.
Each and every time he's got the Ball, he's a threat to go through you or around you.
Furthermore, he's a potentially phenomenal Pass Blocker and boasts outstanding Receiving Upside.
He craves Contact, and he's a great Protector of the Ball.
Other'n all that, I'd say he's a real ShitBum.
Michael was the only Top Pick that I thought was risky, and that only by the thinnest of margins.
And we're talking about the most explosively talented HalfBack in this entire Draft.
Every other one of their Top 5 Picks, in my view, were excellent Value Picks.
And as far as I'm concerned, they hit an Home Run with Spencer Ware.
