Danny Fluker is almost certainly going to be drafted as an Offensive Tackle ~ his Position at Alabama ~ and has even been considered on the Left Side, if I'm reading correctly...
Not only do I think that he's not suited for the Left Side, but neither do I think that he's suited for the Right.
As this Great Game becomes increasingly Speed Oriented, Right Tackles are going to need to be increasingly athletic, in order to try to deal with Edge Speed...and Danny Fluker does not qualify.
That leaves Offensive Guard, as far as I'm concerned.
And once someone figures out that that's'is best Position, he could become an exceptional one.
Hopefully, for his Sake and that of'is Team, he'll actually be drafted as one.
I'm going to grade him at his Optimum Position ~ Right Guard ~ but please not: in the unfortunately likely event that some Fool drafts'm to play Right Tackle, it could very well prove to be a Disaster.
2 ~ MF Manti Teo of Notre Dame @ #38 ~ Horrible Pick!! I had'm graded as a 5th Rounder. Vastly OverRated.
CatFishing aside, I consider Manti Teo to be a spectacularly overrated Prospect, one who benefited immensely from a tremendous Defensive Line, the Glow of Notre Dame, and ~ above all ~ from his own relentlessly self promotional Marketing Campaign, wherein he didn't hesitate to lie his ass off about'is alleged "GirlFriend", even after the fact.
But it's as a FootBall Player that I believe the real Fantasy lies.
He simply isn't that good.
His Run Defense & Pass Defense are both mediocre & flawed, and there's no Pass Rush to speak of. Furthermore, the lies he told in exacerbating the Scandal ~ and the humiliation of the Scandal, itself ~ are certainly going to undermine his Credibility in the Locker Room and on the Field...where he's tasked to be a Leader.
Wait a minute...They Traded Up to get this guy??
Burned a 4th Rounder for'm???
3 ~ SE Keenan Allen of California @ #76 ~ Steal!! That's more like it!! Had'm graded as a 1st Rounder!!
Keenan Allen is a Dream Come True Split End: A disciplined, reliable Router who explodes out'f'is Breaks.
His Long Speed is pedestrian, but the stuff that wins Games & Championships is the Short Speed and Agility, and Keenan Allen commands phenomenal Fluidity, Lateral Agility, and stunningly quick Ricochet for such a big man.
That combination, along with his extraordinary Routing, should make him an enormous Weapon at the Next Level.
Best of all, though, considering the notorious lengthy Incubation Period of most "Wide Receivers"?
He's ready to roll today.
I really like San Diego's Work in the UFA Market, this Year: Nothing spectacular, but a few intriguing Names...
CB Josh Johnson of Purdue
DT Kwame Geathers of Georgia
DT Brandon Moore of Texas
And SE Courtney Gardner of Sierra...
There're plenty of Red Flags associated with Courtney Gardener: Multiple Brushes with the Law ~ Kid Stuff, if you ask me ~ slow "40" Time, failing'is Math Exam and thus failing to get admitted to Oklahoma ~ which precipitated his decision to declare for the Draft ~ and of course the lowly level of Competition that he excelled against.
Hey, I'm not making any Grand, Sweeping Pronouncements, here: Information is a bit thin on this kid.
But the Kid Stuff was a ways back, he's a decent Student who happens to be awful at Math, and he plays Fast.
I'm basing this on one grainy Tape, OK? And it's Courtney Gardner Propaganda, at that...
But is this kid worth bringing into Camp?? My GOD, Yeah...Check out the crazy Moves in the opening minutes, here:
Courtney Gardner Propaganda!!
If they let Danny Fluker play Offensive Guard in a Power Scheme, then he should be very good...But he's very Laterally Limited, which is an enormous disadvantage in the 21st Century, so I'd hardly rate'm as a 1st Rounder, much less 11th Overall. Some excellent Guard Prospects went much, much later in the Draft.
And Trading Up for Manti Teo was simply hideous. He is spectacularly OverRated, in my view, and to compound the foolishness of drafting'm in the first place by giving up #110, where all sorts of immensely talented Prospects were still on the Board, was simply unfathomable. A truly awful, awful Draft.
