"DR" stands for Dragoon ~ my term for potential Defensive End/Flank Defender Hybrids.
Dion Jordan is an amazing Prospect, one who may either Revolutionize his Position ~ which most decidedly should be Flank Defender ~ "OutSide LineBacker", to you Earthlings!! ~ or simply play it better than anyone of his Era!!
He could play Defensive End, but I think that with his naturally wiry Frame & Athleticism, the choice is clear.
His is a phenomenal Talent, and such is his Motor, rapidly growing Command of the Game, and Process Speed that I have little doubt that he will forge an outstanding and remarkable Career!
2 ~ CB Jamar Taylor of Boise State @ #54 ~ Outstanding Pick!! Gave'm a 1st Round Grade, I did!!
Jamar Taylor commands an extremely impressive Portfolio of Attributes: He's tough in Press, he's incredible at Turning & Burning or Rapidly Redirecting in Space, he Rapidly Reads & Reacts and does so with consistent Savvy & Instinct, and his Technique makes it clear that he's relentlessly drilled all the little details for many Years.
3 ~ OL Dallas Thomas of Tennessee @ #77 ~ Meh!! Gave'm a 4th/5th Round Grade. Didn't write a Report on'm.
Not an horrible Pick, mind you. I think he'll very likely start at The Next Level, and he shows superior Agility and excellent Effort. But I think he lacks Core Strength, and I'm not enamored with his Focus and Concentration. Basically, I think he's a low level Starter and a valuable Reserve who could potentially play 4 Positions.
4 ~ CB Will Davis of Utah State @ #93 ~ Meh. Gave'm a 4th/5th Round Grade. Didn't write a Report on'm.
He flashed in'is first Year as a Starter, but went to pieces against steady competition at the Senior Bowl. I think he's a Long Shot to start, and they should've looked elsewhere. And the fact that they paid heavily to move up to pick Davis does not, in my view, reflect flatteringly on their Scouting Skills or on their ability to build a Roster.
5 ~ DF Jelani Jenkins of Florida @ #104 ~ Great Pick!! Slipped by me, but I would've given a 2nd Round Grade!!
"DF" is for "Flank Defender" ~ "OutSide LineBacker" to you Earthlings!! Jenkins is a true 21st Century Flanker, displaying extraordinary Capacity to Flip Hips and run DownField to cover FlexBacks, SlotBacks, and Tight Ends. He's also a very cerebral Defender, Rapidly Reading & Reacting to Offensive Schematics. A tremendous Pick at #104.
6 ~ TE Dion Sims of Michigan State @ #106 ~ Fair Value. Boom or Bust guy. I didn't write a Report on'm.
Sims has the Potential to develop into a bruising Blocker and a deceptively smooth ~ although by no means Explosive!! ~ Receiver. He has athletic Potential and even dominating Blocking Potential...But I have grave concerns about'is ability to sustain Motivation. He's struggled with Weight until quite recently, and even at'is previous size, wasn't the Blocking Force one might've expected. He's lost a lot of Weight over the last 18 months in a clear effort to become more'f a Receiving presence, but I'm given to wonder what took'm so long and if he'll sustain Focus.
1 ~ I'm a big Fan of Dion Jordan, and I like the Pick at #03...But to trade up from #12 to get'm?? Big Mistake.
2 ~ 1st Off, they could've sat at #12 and picked DT Starlite Lotulelei, who I rated #01 in the entire Draft.
3 ~ 2nd Off, they gave up #42 to make that Stupid Ass Move...which cost them OT Menelik Watson. Wow.
4 ~ Then they picked two dubious Picks at #77 & #93, when some immense Talent was still on the Board.
Even so, these statements are true of most Teams, and considering that they started off with a 1st Rounder ~ #12 ~ a couple 2nd Rounders, and the usual, and came away with what I would Rank as two 1st Rounders ~ including a Top 10 Prospect ~ and a 2nd Rounder, I'd say that at the end of the day, they Broke Even.
