Run Blocking ~ Outstanding. Joeckel boasts exceptional Drive Power and incredible Dexterity. He's a relentless 60 Minute Player who consistently bursts low Off the Snap and displays extraordinarily advanced Dexterity with amazing Consistency. And he commands exceptional Range & Vision on Traps & Draws.
Pass Blocking ~ Phenomenal. Tremendous Launch Velocity, remarkable Lateral Agility, outstanding Core Strength, and that fantastic Dexterity combine to make Joeckel a truly formidable Adversary.
Luke Joeckel is loaded, Ladies & Laddies: the consummate Left Tackle.
Luke Joeckel is nothing less than my Vision of a Dream Offensive Tackle: I foresee'm racking up multiple Pro Bowls!!
2 ~ SS Jon Cyprien ~ Florida InterNational Golden Panthers @ #33 ~ Great Pick!! 1st Round Ranking!!
Run Defense ~ Outstanding. Cyprien combines extraordinary Tackling Technique with ferocious, blistering Speed. He hits hard, and he hits square. He commands fantastic Lateral Agility & Range and tremendous Acceleration.
Pass Defense ~ Extraordinary. Cyprien commands outstanding Verticity in Coverage, Turning & Burning smoothly & rapidly. He's played plenty of Slot, and with his Range & Processing Speed, he'd be an exceptional Free Safety.
I'm crazy about this kid. Jon Cyprien combines the Range, Acceleration, and Processing Speed ~ though not yet the Diagnostic Acuity ~ to become an awesome Free Safety with the Verticity, Range, Acceleration, Processing Speed, Technique, and my God the Ferocity to become a phenomenal Strong Safety!!
I believe that he'll become a Great One.
3 ~ CB Dwayne Gratz ~ Connecticut Huskies @ #64 ~ A Reach, I think. Gave'm a 3rd/4th Round Ranking.
An intriguing Prospect, though, one who I liked and who could very well outplay his #64 Drafting, and indeed my own Ranking. He's a strong, physical Corner of limited Agility, it seems to me, but one who could potentially be solid as a Press Corner or very possibly as a Free Safety Convertible.
4 ~ SB Ace Sanders ~ South Carolina GameCocks @ #101 ~ Good Pick. Gave'm a 3rd/4th Round Ranking.
Sanders has limited utility, in that he is surely limited to the Roles of Kick Returner and SlotBack, to be sure, but he is one who I believe will produce light years beyond his Measurables, and start doing so quickly.
5 ~ XB Denard Robinson ~ Michigan Wolverines @ #135 ~ Tremendous Pick!! 3rd/4th Round Ranking.
And spectacular UpSide!! Robinson's destiny is as an hybrid Runner/Receiver FlexBack, and indeed, if this Game evolves as I would have it evolve, as a New Age SlotBack, which is indeed similar to the FlexBack that I allude to, but one whose Home is indeed in the Slot, Set Back: an Hybrid Running/Receiving Terror.
6 ~ FS Josh Evans ~ Florida Panthers @ #169 ~ Phenomenal Pick!! Gave'm a 2nd Round Ranking!!
Pass Defense ~ Evans commands outstanding Verticity in Slot Coverage, and excellent Processing Speed & Range when he plays CenterField. He is the rare Defender who successfully manages the Balance between Aggression and Safety: He makes more than his share of Big Plays, but does a remarkable job of covering'is TeamMates's Back.
Run Defense ~ Excellent in Run Support. A strong, sure Tackler who doesn't mind delivering an Hard Hit, but who's Body of Work clearly shows that actually making the Tackles is his first Priority.
Love this kid. Josh Evans is a tremendously Agile & Athletic Specimen who can Cover exceptionally well, and he is a genuine PlayMaker...Yet he commands the Processing Speed & Diagnostic Wisdom ~ and Self Control ~ to've already proved to be a reliable Last Line of Defense, as he did in Florida while Matt Elam ran amok.
7 ~ QB Matt Scott ~ Arizona WildCats ~ UFA ~ Nice Pickup!! Gave'm a 5th Round Ranking.
My Crystal Ball is telling me that the Zone Read ~ while it may or may not have a Future in the NFL ~ is going to hit the Rocks hard, this coming Year, as Defensive Coordinators successfully scheme to stop it.
Mind you: That would only bode ill for Matt Scott's Rookie Year if he was actually expected to start...which I have to say would be a pretty bad idea, considering how little experience he has even at the College level.
Scott's a difficult Prospect to analyze because the mere Year of starting experience forces any Evaluator to extrapolate far farther into the Prospect's developmental future than a 3 or 4 Year Starter.
As such, I will go with what we've got and say that I've seen very little to inspire confidence that he commands the Processing Speed to excel at the next level. In all fairness, I wouldn't expect to see much manifestation of that from many Rookies or Sophomores, either. But if that were a strong intrinsic trait of his, I think we'd already be seeing it.
And ultimately ~ once the Zone Read Furor has simmered down ~ QuarterBacks are above all Field Generals.
Their success or failure will ultimately hinge on how rapidly they Read & React to Defenses...and how well.
I'm not ready to write'm off, but from what little I've seen, I'd call'm a Day 3 Project.
UFA ~ QB Jordan Rodgers ~ VanderBilt Commodores ~ worth picking up just because of the Pedigree!!
UFA ~ WB Willie Carter ~ Tulsa Hurricane ~ Very intriguing Talent!! I Mocked him in my Master Plan!!
