Core Strength ~ to thwart the onslaught of marauding Defensive Ends in the Passing Game
Drive Power ~ to attack same Defensive Ends and drive them back ~ or aside ~ in the Running Game
Launch Velocity ~ out'f'is Stance, off the Snap
Fluidity ~ to Redirect Quickly & Effectively
Lateral Agility ~ to Stay Square as he Mirrors his man
Range ~ Short Speed ~ to drive across the Flank on Pulls & Traps or UpField to the Second Level
Combat ~ As in Hand to Hand: Dexterity, Technique, Ferocity & Stamina!!
Core Strength, Core Power, Fluidity, and ~ perhaps most of all ~ Lateral Agility are what I focus most on when evaluating Offensive Tackles.
Pass Blocking ~ Even rawer, but yet with greater Potential. Needs to develop more Core Strength, of course. But after only one Year at the Position, he's learning at an incredible rate, and rapidly piling on Strength & Power. He brings phenomenal Lateral Agility to the table, and a relentless Motor. The Upside here is immense.
He's got tons of learning to do, obviously, and God Forbid he gets drafted by a Team who's Offensive Line Coach doesn't know'is Craft...But as Nate "Universal" Solder and many others've illustrated, if a Prospect has phenomenal Talent, exceptional Processing Speed, Raging Desire, and a relentless Work Ethic, all he needs is a Coach who knows his Business, and what most expect to take Years can be mastered in a few short months.
My take? Reid Fragel is precisely that kind of Prospect.
