They're terms that I find 1000 times cooler than "H-Back" or "Move" Tight End...but that's me!!
The most compelling Attributes of a Tight End, in the 21st Century, are, in my view, and in no particular order:
Blocking ~ Core Strength, Drive Power, Fluidity, and Combat
Release ~ How Adeptly he employs Burst, Core Strength, Fluidity, & Combat to Dust Off the Defender
Routing ~ How Adeptly ~ Crisply, Intelligently, and Reliably ~ he Runs the Route Tree
Separation ~ Fluidity & Ricochet ~ Explosiveness out'f'is Breaks
Catching ~ Reliability & Technique
Navigation ~ How well he Navigates the Field in Pursuit of Yards After Catch
Release ~ Adept. Strong Paw Power and excellent Launch Velocity.
Routing ~ Adept. Crafty.
Separation ~ Excellent. Impressive Fluidity and Savvy.
Catching ~ Adept.
Navigation ~ Adequate.
Ryan Griffin is pretty raw as a Blocker, mind you: He needs a lot of work on'is Technique.
But he consistently displays terrific Launch Velocity, and a strong Punch: All he needs is Time & Coaching.
And as a Receiver, he is very intriguing, showcasing that outstanding Launch Velocity and impressive Paw Power to consistently win'is Release, and an advanced level of Routing Savvy and natural Fluidity to Separate.
Ryan Griffin is raw, but offers immense UpSide, and good reason ~ Intelligence & Drive ~ to bet on'm attaining it.
