Doesn't have a great anchor, plays too high and can consistently be overwhelmed on contact vs. the in-line run game. Doesn't do a great job finding the football on perimeter runs and will take himself out of plays. Displays a good motor and does a better job using his hands to keep his lower body clean from cut blocks. However, lacks any kind of range in pursuit. Looks stiff and tight trying to make plays off his frame and really is able to shut the door from the backside and make a play in pursuit.
Impression: A hard-working MAC defensive lineman who lacks the size, athletic ability and overall pad level to hold up inside in the NFL."
2009 - Named Third-Team All-MAC with 48 tackles(13 solo) and 5.5 tackles with a fumble recovery.
2008 - Played nine games and started seven...Missed time due to injury...Had 18 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks
2007 - Redshirted
2006 - Played in all 14 games, starting the last 11. Was named an Honorable Mention Freshman All American by The Sporting News. Led all Bobcat freshmen with 38 tackles with 7.5 TFLs including 3.5 sacks; named MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week after Ohio's win at Kent State.
Strengths: Strong, physical tackle with surprising quickness for position. Able to take on blockers and still make plays. Quickness allows him to create problems in offensive backfield and pressure the quarterback.
Weaknesses: Slightly undersized for position and quickness is not enough to off-set this issue. Can be driven off the ball. Tends to get too much depth in penetration and over run play. With additional bulk could develop into 3-4 NT.
